DESCRIPTION: \nCheck-in Begins at 10:30am\nWalk Begins at 12:00pm\n\nAbout The Buddy Walk\nThe Buddy Walk is a one mile walk in which any one can participate without special training. It was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2011 worldwide. In 2009, more than $9.5 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down Syndrome.\nThe 2012 Buddy Walk funds will:\n\nSupport the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS)\nEnhance our Web Site to include easier navigation, more resource links, and current information about our latest events\nProvide more educational courses for DSA of NWI persons with Down syndrome\nObtain a more centralized and larger office space to better meet the needs for all DSA of NWI members\n\nActivities\nIn addition to the walk, we have a great line-up of fun and entertainment from games, to food and even merchandise!\n*Subject to change without notice\n\nBalloon Launch\nInformation Booths\nFace Painting\nFree Food & Snacks\nBake Sale\nBounce House\n\nDSA of NWI Merchandise (Coming Soon)\nRegistration\nCost per person is $20 for Adults, $10 for Kids 12 and under (pre-registration), Free for persons with Down Syndrome. The cost is $5 more person if you register the day of the event. Each person pre-regiestered will receive a Buddy Walk Shirt and Event Tag on Registration Day. If you are walking for someone or with a group, make sure that you know the correct group name upon registration. The shirt you will receive during Check-in at the event is red. New this year is an Event Tag so you can show all who you are supporting during the walk!
